We as readers didn't know how long that kiss lasted, perhaps it had only happened just as she was coming out of the bathroom. We don't get that answer from him even though we do get his POV.

Harlequin: At The Midnight Hour (1995)

I also agree that she's really very clumsy. I read a preview of the graphic novel of this and the stories while similar seem to go about it a bit different.

THE TYCOON TAKES A WIFE | Mills & Boon Comics | Balloons & Chapters

He practically hauls her from the ground and into his car in that one and in this one she's agreed to go and then lifts her. It sets a slight tone difference. I like her books and will probably continue reading them. I like how the characters are flawed and there's always a stomach clenching moment so far in the books. The only major issue I have with her is her grammar. I'm not perfect with grammar and I'm not usually one to point it out. But several times in both books there were spelling mistakes, words missing or words in the wrong order. This wouldn't be an issue if it was intentional but many times I was jarred out of the story and had to reread a sentence several times to figure out what she really meant by it.

Sometimes its fine when its the H speaking because he's usually foreign but when its just the narrative and not dialogue it sets nails on a chalkboard especially when it is in her POV. A lot of times I can skip over those kind of details in other books but she does it enough to annoy me. I'll give a specific example next time I see it.

I'll still be reading her books but I've noticed that its not just a novice mistake or one book.

It's in both this and the one I mentioned above. She just needs an editor to read through it and make those small changes. Really one word in a different spot in the sentence would make all the difference most of the time. One person found this helpful. This book was radically different from others in the same series in that the book is mostly conversation back and forth to work out marital problems while the heroine is bedridden at a hospital.

If you are looking for a book with a lot of seduction, romance, and beautiful Mediterranean locales, this is not the book to buy. This book has exactly one love scene at the beginning and that was it. I liked both the heroine and hero, but I would appreciated the book more had they been traveled to a well described exotic locale and spent at least some of the time flirting and having fun. Francesco and Erin met and within days were married, so fast was the marriage that secrets were kept till they exploded in Erin's face.

He was not what he seemed when they met.

And now she has left him. When he finds out her secret he is after her to come back. I enjoy Kim Lawrence books and will look forward to more later. You have the usual ingredients here; beautiful h and gorgeous Italian H, with loads of misunderstanding and miscommunication. Both of them have let their backgrounds colour their new marriage and as a result the h leaves him after only one month. The H doesn't try to stop her leaving and doesn't follow her afterwards.

Anyway if you don't have high expectations then you'll read this for what it is. This story was ridiculous. I know it's one of those cheap romance books but geez.

Could she have been anymore annoying? In her mind everything the man did somehow was against her. She wasn't insecure so much as self-absorbed and heavily into emotional blackmail.
